The Company
America's leading catalog for specialty home décor accessories has a position open for a
Senior Marketing Executive who will be a key driver in directing the planning and execution of direct marketing campaigns and marketing operations including Database Marketing, Marketing Communications, Integrated Sales Contact Strategy, Reporting, Forecasting, Channel Marketing and Brand Management.
Primary Areas of Responsibility
Marketing: Direct and oversee ongoing research/testing programs to determine the most efficient and effective ways to acquire customers and maximize our business potential (including response rates, re-purchase activity and lifetime value - LTV) with them. Direct the development and implementation of marketing programs including advertising, public relations, alternative customer acquisition programs, alternative customer retention and LTV-generating programs that incorporate company and department objectives while developing and supporting smith+noble's brand. Ensure the development of appropriate order source code tracking and management reporting.
Circulation: Manage the development and execution of mail plans, analysis and reporting to optimize mailing performance. Plan optimum circulation quantities and direct the appropriate selection of mailing lists and mail dates to achieve maximum response rates and return on investment.
Brand Management: Lead the management team's effort to understand all of the factors impacting our company's brand, including brand value, brand positioning and brand messaging. Provide leadership in developing strategic brand plans designed to motivate consumers to purchase and re-purchase. Establish corporate identity guidelines for internal and external customers and address how multiple touch points should align with the brand platform.
Department: Staff and develop department personnel. Establish and document systems, policies and procedures, including budgets, plans and reports that ensure efficient, effective departmental operations. Coordinate marketing with merchandising, creative, e-commerce and other company departments to insure smooth follow-through on all marketing activities.
General Management: Actively and positively contribute to the overall success of smith+noble through regular contributions to the general management of the company, including enhancement of professional management practices and capabilities. Participate and provide leadership in inter-departmental meetings, projects and informal activities. Support the company and other departments wherever and whenever your skills and experience would be beneficial.
Education, Experience and Essential skills
- BS Business Administration or BA Applied Mathematics or similar required
- MBA preferred
- 5-10 years direct marketing experience
- 5-10 years managing and executing product marketing
- 3-5 years Internet experience
- Strong analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills that facilitate quickly evaluating necessary information, understanding implications and providing appropriate recommendations.
- Ability to interpret financial data and statements
- Ability to forecast and determine consumer trends
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to think strategically and communicate strategic processes to peers and subordinates
- Ability to select, retain and motivate talented personnel
- Advanced PC skills: Excel, Word, Outlook, Access
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
- Project Management -ability to determine and assess risks to minimize delays and quality issues
- Team orientated - ability to lead and direct teams toward accomplishments of smith+noble's goals and objectives.
