Senior Information Architect

The Senior Information Architect (IA) analyzes client objectives and site user needs to assist the team in validating and refining strategic business requirements. The Senior IA articulates proposed solutions to the client and facilitates the collaborative and iterative process that culminates in detailed information architecture. Also, the Senior IA defines the plans and frameworks for online user experiences that are intuitively organized, efficient, and engaging. In addition, this position is responsible for creating the overall site structure, task flows and page-level content priority. This position is a pivotal communication bridge between all domains and between RI and clients. As such, the Senior IA must possess an advanced level of business acumen, and be knowledgeable in brand expression, visual design concepts, and interactive technologies. The Senior IA reports to the Associate Director of Information Architecture or the Director of Strategic Services.

Responsibilities:

Show proficiency in Information Architect responsibilities:

  • Pinpoint the purpose of sites, pages and zones
  • Gather and document requirements
  • Analyze business objectives and user needs
  • Produce logical user flows
  • Create detailed wireframes and sitemaps
  • Document user interface rules, defaults and conventions
  • Present deliverables to the client
  • Facilitate collaborative meetings and deliverable reviews
  • Volunteer ways to further assist project team and peers
  • Adopt RI processes, systems, and deliverable standards

Additional responsibilities of Senior Information Architect:

  • Participate in new business pitches
  • Define and execute project kickoff work sessions
  • Work with client Service and Project Managers to outline project plan activities and dependencies
  • Collaborate with partners/vendors to define impact to project requirements
  • Structure and execute site audit and comparison
  • Evaluate how well creative and functional solutions fulfill structural plan
  • Guide research for areas of leadership
  • Oversee the work of studio IA and provide mentoring
  • Propose innovative solutions
  • Simultaneously work on 4-5 and/or more complex client engagements
Educational Requirements:

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in HCI, IA, Technical Writing, Business, or other related field.

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years of information architecture, HCI, UI Design, or usability experience with a focus on the internet (intranet and extranet experience a plus).

Growth Path:

The Senior Information Architect would have the potential to progress to the role of Associate Director of Information Architecture.

Travel:

Travel will be required depending on client relationship, attendance at conferences or training opportunities.
