The Position:
We are seeking a rainmaker, a talented business development executive to lead efforts to recruit retailers to participate in bank sponsored rewards programs. In exchange for funding the reward to the banks' customers, retailers have access to millions of consumers, a robust marketing plan funded by banks promoting those retailers, and the ability to target consumers based on their shopping behavior.
We have pioneered retailer-centric, retailer-funded rewards programs and have been widely acknowledged as such in American Banker, Cards & Payments, and other trade publications. Moreover, our executives have been featured speakers at forums, conferences and other industry events.
The Opportunity:
Our small, rapidly-growing, highly profitable company provides a rare career opportunity for the right individual. Your 10+ years of experience as a business executive primarily responsible for consultative sales (and sales management) to leading retailers (e.g., Best Buy, Staples, Safeway, Toys R Us, etc.) your ability to lead and manage others, strong database analytic skills and your substantially above average drive, will determine if you're right for the opportunity. You must be hands on, fully accountable and a strong team player!
Responsibilities:
- Initiate contact with retailers in all categories to present our programs and build interest in participation.
- Manipulation (excel), presentation of data analysis for each retailer, their competitors and the retailers category, development of business cases (ROI) and interpretation of data/recommendations on database marketing strategy for each retailer based on data analysis relating to the merchant, their competitors and the industry overall.
- Develop presentations to build a sales story (Powerpoint/PDF)
- Work with managers who work with Bank clients to develop customized promotional/merchandising plans for each retailer.
- On-going, detail-oriented relationship management with new and existing retailers.
- Manage a team of 5 salespeople and relationship managers.
Requirements:
- 10+ years experience in sales/business development in marketing services, loyalty marketing, and/or customer acquisition, ideally to retail chains
- Strong understanding of direct/database marketing
- Consultative business development skills with a proven track record of solving problems
- Demonstrated ability to analyze marketing problems and provide/discuss solutions to those problems
- Ability to utilize spreadsheets/financial models to demonstrate incremental revenue to potential retail partners from participation in these programs
- Existing relationships with marketing executives in retail organizations a major plus
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
