The Position
The Data Processing Director (DPD) leads a team of several Data Analysts in the Data Processing department (DP). The DPD is responsible for the quality, consistency and profitability of all work performed by Data Analysts in the department to support the direct mail programs for our largest and most valuable client.
Responsibilities
- Support the daily production requirements
- Understand the business issues and testing strategies of the account, and ensuring that the agency has the data infrastructure to support these current strategies
- Must act as an important information resource for the Data Analysts (as well as THG overall) by being responsible for acquiring and disseminating technical expertise, as well as policy and procedural knowledge to the department
- Must be knowledgeable about the various Data management software platforms and the selection of the appropriate toolset for each production process
- Must be expert in the use of direct mail address standardization and de-duplication software
- Will lead all process improvement initiatives including the automation of primary processes, review of existing procedures to identify inefficiencies, and responding to new client requirements
- Must understand, embrace and champion company standard operating procedures (SOP's), in order to protect the client and company from undue risks
- Ensure that our SOPs are current, efficient, and serve our production needs
- Ultimately responsible for the work of the team and serve as a problem solver
- Must have the discipline, organization and attention to detail to effectively manage the detailed communications required in a successful client relationship
Requirements
- US citizenship
- 5+ years data processing experience in a Direct Marketing / Direct Mail production environment (direct marketing agency, data processing service bureau, client or direct mail print production facility)
- Past experience managing staff or a team
- Comprehensive understanding of Visual FoxPro database and programming principles, including experience with and good understanding of VFP/SQL Server application integration
- Business Objects - First Logic Match / Consolidate (or similar postal standardization software suite)
- Experience with data warehousing strategies, preferably in a Microsoft SQL Server environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage several very complex projects
- Ability to lead, motivate and manage staff
- Excellent organizational skills, including attention to precise details and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven, highly dynamic atmosphere and react quickly to changes and shifting priorities
- Proven ability to automate complex data processing tasks reliably
- Design/maintain and support Data Warehouse and OLAP processes, and ETLs.
- Knowledge of database reporting solutions such as SQL Server Reporting Services
- Solid experience on fundamental system and database administration, tuning, backup/recovery, performance and tuning, problem determination and resolution
