Position Description
The client is looking to hire a Director, Business Development to form new strategic partnerships within the United States, which will enable the Voice and Web platforms to acquire new customers. The relationships that will be developed will focus mostly on non-paid partnerships which can be defined as revenue sharing arrangements or cross-marketing opportunities where we the business can exchange traffic with the potential partner. The individual should seek to develop partnerships that can be established on the online space as well as offline (such as retail outlets, magazines, radio etc.).
The individual is expected to be well connected and to be capable of developing strategic online and offline partnerships that will drive traffic and build our brand. The successful candidate will be able to use his/her knowledge of the Internet/e-commerce to prospect, cultivate and execute strategic partnerships and develop and manage the ongoing relationship. The goal with these partnerships is to drive traffic to the site, partner for content, co-branding and e-commerce opportunities.
It is imperative that the individual resides in the U.S. specifically in New York City where the major media outlets, internet properties and financial institutions are located.
Responsibilities
- Develop strategic online and offline partnerships that will drive traffic and build our brand within the U.S. Marketplace
- Manage the ongoing relationship with the partner
- Track media effectiveness and develop models to determine project paybacks
- Support business plan development
- Identify partnering and marketing opportunities
- Work with the Product Design Team and various other teams to ensure needs are scoped, designed & delivered
Qualifications
- Understanding the dynamics of customer acquisition in an Internet business
- Previous marketing or business development experience ( business modeling and working with clients)
- Solid track record of developing successful relationships
- Confirmed and proven record of closing major industry related accounts
- Previous experience in developing partnership opportunities with clear deal parameters with an outlined Return on Investment
- Comfort level and familiarity with the Internet
Requirements
- 10+ years experience business development experience, preferably in an online / internet / e-commerce environment
- 7+ years of experience in off and online advertising sales and advertising sales management
- 3+ years of media buying experience, preferably online
- MBA is an asset
