A dynamic growth-oriented ecommerce site and subsidiary headquartered in midtown New York serving an international community of financial professionals with a full product line including business solutions, business services, industry specific events and conferences, publications, continuing professional education.

The Position

This position is heavily a hands-on data analytics role. The successful candidate will work within a team of experienced marketing professionals in product marketing, web production, sales operations, etc. This position requires a high degree of familiarity with integrated marketing strategies and analyses, and a proficiency in relational databases, CRM, web analytics, and data manipulation skills. This position manages two direct reports. The primary focus is sales and marketing analyses - financial and business analytics, marketing campaign analyses, targeting/mailing list segmentation, marketing mix analyses. Web analytics experience is highly desirable and will be viewed favorably.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Manager will be expected to produce critical product line budget vs. actual sales analyses and marketing campaign ROI analyses for direct marketing initiatives; compile targeted mailing lists of best customers and new prospects for email and direct mail campaigns; manage multiple data analytics projects at any given time in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

  • Business Intelligence Reporting - Prepare summary reports of budgeted vs. actual product line sales, variances and marketing results. Run queries in the following environments - FoxPro/SQL and Oracle Discoverer. Compile and deliver business intelligence reports (i.e. conference booking curve report, online/offline sales report, leading indicators report, etc.) to marketing managers on a regular basis. Proactively research and learn best practices to advance our analytical capabilities.

  • Campaign Response Measurement - Provide integrated marketing analytics solutions across customers and channels to add value to the decision-making process and ultimately improve marketing strategy and results. Conduct in-depth post-mortem analyses on marketing campaigns, from analyzing the list selections, creative, timing, offer, and calculating the ROI and providing the customer profile information.

  • List Segmentation/Management - Oversee a variety of integrated marketing campaign list activities on a daily basis (i.e. direct mail, email, market research, and sales-lead-gen initiatives). Provide customer/buyer profile analyses to support list targeting/segmentation.

  • Web Analytics
    • Reporting - Leverage Coremetrics and Google Analytics reporting tools, analyze and identify KPIs from site visitor/customer activities and pinpoint areas for improvement - report on key metrics, such as unique visitors/buyers, site browsing and search behavior, conversion rates, referrals, purchase patterns.
    • Advanced Solutions - Manage the web analytics add-on applications to generate new revenue through email re-targeting and product merchandising throughout the e-commerce site. Effectively utilize these applications to improve customer/visitor experience and increase ROI for the business.

  • Salesforce.com Analytics - Support the functions of internal sales and marketing teams for lead generation tracking, measuring effectiveness of campaigns, reporting on the status of opportunities in the lead pipeline, identifying opportunities to improve sales conversion rates, etc. - advanced experience and knowledge of SalesForce.com reporting is highly recommended.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Undergrad degree with at least 5-7 years experience involving database marketing analytics within the integrated marketing/e-commerce industry (direct mail and online).
  • Advanced knowledge of relational databases. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) as well as database tools such as Microsoft Access and Oracle Discoverer.
  • Intermediate level and hands-on experience with SQL/ SAS programming is a must.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with web analytical tools and interfaces, i.e. Coremetrics, Omniture, Webtrends, Google Analytics is required.
  • Advanced experience/knowledge of Salesforce.com reporting is a plus.
  • Experience in conducting sales and marketing campaign response analyses; ability to study and detect the trends and articulate through reporting.
  • People management experience. This position will oversee a team of two other marketing database analysts.
  • An organized individual with great attention to detail and a focus on quality of results.
