The Position

The hands-on Director of Marketing is a key member for one of our client's products and is responsible for the planning, successful execution and follow up for a diverse range of customer retention, reactivation campaigns, inserts and additional sales opportunities along with producing their annual budget, monthly forecast, and other business reporting as required. The Director of Marketing is also responsible for P&L forecast and quarterly performance analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Campaign Planning & Execution: Responsible for conceptualizing and managing multi-channel customer reactivation and retention campaigns and additional sales initiatives across the entire product portfolio. This includes idea generation and exploration, preparing and presenting proposals, overseeing the creative and production processes, and championing successful execution.
  • Campaign Analysis: Analyze campaign outcomes in detail, using a variety of proprietary software applications. Draw insights and present results clearly to facilitate sound decision making on next steps. Present post-mortem reports on each campaign identifying learnings and short-comings of the effort. Develop target success metrics and implement tools for analyzing, reporting, and improving ROI
  • Budget/Forecast: Build a detailed bottom-up annual budget for areas of responsibility. Supply key inputs to the quarterly reforecast, using the most accurate, up-to-date information available. Be prepared to discuss assumptions used for developing budgets and forecasts.
  • Customer Reactivation: Develop a comprehensive reactivation contact strategy across email, direct mail, and telemarketing. Refine offers and incentives, test new formats, plan contact strategy and monitor backend performance to maximize ROI.
  • Additional Sales: Increase gross revenue through planning additional sales across all channels--in-shipment, external inserts, telemarketing, and email. Introduce new offers based on past successes and shared learnings with international markets.
  • Inserts: Grow customer acquisition through internal and external insert campaigns. Continually test offers, creative and format to increase ROI. Collaborate with Media team to grow revenue base from package inserts.
  • Customer Retention: Work with Director of Marketing to develop and execute backend test to improve formula and pay rates.
  • Management: Build and manage a small marketing team, as well as play a key senior leadership role in the company overall

Qualifications

  • BS degree required, preferably in Marketing
  • 8+ years experience in a direct marketing environment, preferably with experience in both acquisition and retention marketing. Continuity, subscription or club experience, including retention and cross selling strongly preferred.
  • Dinnerware experience/knowledge is a plus
  • Analytical ability to drill down on detail level as well as strategic vision to roll-up results to form qualified business decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing on all levels internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical, technical and mathematical abilities with a strong working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Excellent project management skills, self-motivated, analytical, organized, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines for a variety of marketing "deliverables."
  • Demonstrate initiative with a results orientation, while exhibiting strong drive and leadership skills.
