Position

The Director of Product Marketing, based in the Durham office, will report to the Vice President of Marketing in the New York headquarters, and will be accountable for managing a team of product marketing managers based in both Durham and NYC.

Expertise should include:

  • Product/program management - strategy, pricing, marketing
  • Execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns
  • Online merchandising/e-commerce/SEO/SEM capabilities
  • Ability to closely manage budgets and goals on a monthly basis
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities

Product Marketing
Full P&L responsibility including management of revenue targets, marketing spend, and ROI. Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan for each product line including but not limited to Conferences, CPE/Professional Training, Publications.

Product Management
Work with product development teams on new product rollout strategies and product life cycle analyses; collaborate on pricing and packaging strategies; focus on market research and incorporate customer feedback into overall positioning strategy.

Online Focus
Work with online production team to maintaining thousands of online product detail pages, ecommerce landing pages, web site user analyses and activity reports to support web site purchase conversion rates.

Analytics, Segmentation and Research
Leverage real-time email marketing results, web analytics reports and direct mail campaign analyses to optimize performance of marketing programs, improve web site usability and increase conversion rates. Conduct research in the form of online surveys, focus groups, and web site usability tests. Create audience segmentation plans to optimize mail quantities and preferred communication channels.

International Marketing Experience
Over the next two years, we will be moving into international markets; experience marketing events and products outside of the U.S. to target markets in Europe, Asia or South America; ability to create and execute on comprehensive international marketing plans.

Strong Relationship Skills
Maintain executive-level interaction with all internal teams and external partners, internal and external creative agencies, in-house online production teams.

Knowledge/Skills and Experience/Education

The Director of Product Marketing will have direct marketing and e-commerce experience in a BtoB environment, preferably in a similar revenue-generating business.

  • Minimum 10 years experience managing large-scale revenue and expense budgets and executing online and offline direct marketing, customer acquisition and retention
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; an MBA is a plus
  • Ability to develop marketing plans and product recommendations based on customer needs
  • Proficient understanding of web site functionality and email marketing best practices
  • Proven experience and success with SEM, SEO and for lead generation; social media experience a plus
  • Highly analytical; ability to define and track the key metrics for email and online marketing success
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office software applications - MS Word, Excel, must be extremely proficient in PowerPoint
