The Position
The ideal candidate for Direct Marketing Copywriter will have solid direct response copywriting experience in membership, acquisition, subscriptions, collectibles or continuity marketing. This position will be responsible for assisting marketing managers in launching new tests, and responding to client requests.
The position will work on creative solutions to acquiring customers; develop retention materials including communications such as emails and offline correspondence. The position will assist with customer service scripts, sales materials and web site updates. The copywriter position is also responsible for creating highly effective online solicitations, sales copy, promotions, web pages and emails for our post-transaction business.
Experience and Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have internet direct response copy writing experience and be able to provide samples. Candidates who understand the concept of "controls," test matrices and direct marketing strategies will be viewed favorably.
- MUST have internet direct response copywriting experience and be able to provide samples
- 7+ years experience in an online agency or corporate advertising department conceiving and writing online promotions, banners, landing pages, websites and emails for a consumer-oriented product/service.
- Experience in the marketing of memberships, subscriptions, collectibles, or continuity clubs is preferred.
- Experience working with in-house corporate counsel on consumer-oriented marketing.
- Must have demonstrated understanding of testing strategy (i.e. testing against a control, element testing, multi-variant testing, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written) as well as great attention to detail required.
- Mac or PC skills required. Knowledge of Photoshop and HTML a plus.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with web designer and marketing managers to brainstorm and implement new ways to attract and retain customers to our services and communicate with them throughout the life of their membership.
- Write all copy to support consumer communication efforts (solicitation, email, website). Develop unique new concepts. Create inspired work that meets internal objectives.
- Establish strong relationships across departments and an understanding of client needs, the consumer experience, marketing strategy and operational capabilities.
- Assist marketing managers in launching new tests, versioning controls, help with customer service scripts, sales materials and website updates.
