Our client is one of the largest mutual life insurance companies in America, with 148 years of experience in providing diversified financial solutions, including life insurance, retirement services, employee benefits, and investments. The firm is evolving its business model and the next generation of leadership to reposition the organization in support of a clear focus on the end-user segment. Marketing will play a key role in this transformation through unique solution repositioning, extending into both distribution channels and the end customers.

The Position

The Life Product Marketing Head is a new, officer-level role responsible for marketing strategy and product positioning that results in a clear identity in the market and drives revenue growth. The candidate will assume the leadership role for marketing of life products across relevant distribution channels, including agencies, brokerage and specialty brokerage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in creative development of core materials used for wholesaling to distribution channel(s), primarily the career system
  • Develop value added programs for General Agents
  • Develop and implement positioning strategy to create a clear marketing identity for the insurance and protection products
  • Play a leadership role integrating relevant life products to create "value packages"
  • Develop and lead implementation of integrated marketing programs
  • Lead creation and implementation of programs that optimize relationship deepening, cross-sell, retention and customer satisfaction
  • Partner with Corporate Market Research to deliver market intelligence and insights to fully understand key drivers for target customer segments
  • Play a primary role in Individual Products Distribution's business planning and strategy process
  • Assume leadership of field communications process as it relates to retirement and investments products
  • In partnership with Corporate Marketing, set the strategic direction and lead content development for sales collateral for new product introductions, key promotional programs, and key segment materials

Requirements

  • Significant experience marketing life products
  • Experience with disability and/or long-term care protection products
  • Proven track record of success working with a similarly structured indirect distribution system
  • Experience in a highly matrixed organization
  • Experience leading marketing and positioning strategy, implementing field and customer communications, leading collateral development, and driving the marketing plans associated with new product launches
