The Position:
The Director of Operations is responsible for refining the infrastructure, metrics and management of the operations, procurement, fulfillment and supply/demand chain structure. This position oversees 2 distinct areas of the customer experience: 1) print production and 2) manufacturing and fulfillment of product to customers.
Responsibilities:
- Direct accountability and management of team of print production, fulfillment, as well as, enrollment and payment processing teams to manage the entire supply chain process
- Develop annual budget for approval and ensure cost control in all areas of the supply chain
- Maintain the highest levels of customer service to internal and external customers
- Develop and maintain all third-party relationships with vendors, suppliers and service-providers
- Manage and enforce the complex master production schedule for all direct mail and package insert campaigns
- Set up optimal inventory management processes and solutions with external vendors in order to improve turnover and reduce obsolescence
- Manage postal requirements and ensure compliance to regulations
- Maintain and establish quality assurance program
- Responsible for managing enrollment and payment processing process (Knowledge of PCI compliance and Reg-E a plus)
- Vendor and technology investigations
- Lead business reviews with key partners and vendors in order to stay abreast of industry developments
- Liaise with new product development, procurement team as well as international counterparts to create synergies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced study in logistics or MBA is preferred
- 10-12 years experience of publishing or purchasing with at least 7 years of print, letter shop, fulfillment, project management or supply chain management experience required (Exposure to postal regulations a plus)
- Experience in enterprise-wide inventory planning, logistics and operating systems, processes, and procedures
- Strong attention to detail and operational workflow dynamics
- Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Ability to build relationships and work across a multi-product line organization
- Knowledge of the print production process of 4 color/publications
- Self-motivated, analytical, organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
- Experienced negotiator
- Experienced planner with the ability to adhere to timelines and meet deadlines
- Strong analytics and computer skills (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.)
