They create and market products to inspire and inform in a wide spectrum of interest areas, ranging from recipes and cookery, home and hobbies, entertainment and education etc. Our client is organized in five Business Regions: Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and China, USA and Asia Pacific. The head office is in Malmö, where the company was founded in 1972. The turnover is €260M with 450 people employed in development, marketing, finance, IT and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the P&L and strategic direction of all product lines in North American business including the Hispanic and the Canadian markets, ensuring maximum profitability and growth.
- Responsible for the traditional direct response media sources including direct mail, package inserts, DRTV and other alternative media.
- Direct strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, and provide leadership to the marketing staff to ensure the successful planning and execution of all marketing activities.
- Oversee all marketing test strategy, analysis & reporting for current product portfolio as well as wet/dry testing of products.
- Develop alternative business models in overall business strategy for subscriptions, mini-series, annuals, one shots, add-ons and cross selling.
- Develop individually customized Internet communications, including welcome email, account information and notifications, and up-sells.
- Establish joint marketing relationships and pursue additional sales opportunities outside the traditional direct mail marketing channel (e.g. the Internet, retail, event marketing) for existing as well as repurposed (i.e. re-formatted) product content.
- Identify and develop profitable and synergistic relationships with potential external partners.
- Manage the execution of marketing projects from start to finish in partnership with other teams including Product Development, Creative, Research, Media, Operations, Customer Service, Finance, etc.
- Participate within the global business units on product development and marketing strategy implementation.
Qualifications:
- MBA in Marketing is required.
- Must have minimum of 5 years of experience implementing a variety of direct marketing strategies (e.g., direct mail, affinity marketing, internet, and broadcast media) with continuity products in cooking, crafting, home and health affinities.
- Balanced fusion of creative, analytical, business, marketing and product management skills is required.
- Minimum 2 years of direct marketing experience with continuity products in the Hispanic market is required.
