They create and market products to inspire and inform in a wide spectrum of interest areas, ranging from recipes and cookery, home and hobbies, entertainment and education etc. Our client is organized in five Business Regions: Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and China, USA and Asia Pacific. The head office is in Malmö, where the company was founded in 1972. The turnover is €260M with 450 people employed in development, marketing, finance, IT and operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the media strategy for the direct mail and insert channels to meet marketing and financial objectives and to ensure that existing and planned products are effectively positioned in the market.
  • This will encompass:
    • Evaluating the opportunities within each channel and recommending annual volume accordingly.
    • Identifying strategies that can be employed to expand the mailable universe and number of customers generated.
    • Working closely with the Marketing team to determine the optimum creative, offer and sales system that can be extended to the various target audiences within each channel.
  • Identify and test new channels that will successfully expand the channel mix.
  • Identify and test new lead generation and product distribution opportunities that can successfully grow our client's business.
  • Continually review the U.S. and Canadian market, identifying opportunities and utilizing promotional resources to effectively achieve marketing goals with a positive ROI.
  • Oversee the database management team, with responsibility for maintaining and leveraging the customer base for acquisition and retention efforts.
  • Participate in the US Executive Team.
  • Work with New Product Development and Product Management to define the media roadmap for new products.
  • Manage the list and package insert rental revenue stream.
  • Recruiting, developing and retaining talent within the media and marketing service group (staff of 10).

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in direct marketing industry with mailer and/or media agency experience
  • Proven track record of hands on experience in developing and executing media strategy.
  • Strong analytical and complex problem solving skills.
  • Must possess a high level of personal and professional accountability and be able to enlist the cooperation and consent of peer groups involved in establishing business goals and objectives.
  • Strong proactive leadership talent.
  • Managerial experience
