The Position
The SQL Database Administrator manages the SQL server transactional databases that collect oncology patient data from our nationwide network of users. An individual in this position will be responsible for making sure the systems are functioning optimally and that users are able to upload, retrieve and analyze the data as it flows across the various platforms within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all functions associated with the design, implementation and maintenance of SQL Server databases including security, back-up, logging, reporting and recovery procedures
- Manage all technical aspects of the databases and processes
- Transform data via standardization, cleaning, data repair, matching, and de-duping
- Manage data from multiple sources including internal, external, and 3rd party data
- Assist in maintaining and improving database operational efficiency
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly data maintenance tasks
- Assist in developing feeds to Data Warehouse and Marts
- Ensure data can be provided to support OLAP reports and various reporting requirements
- Assist in client support and setup configurations
- Maintain panel support via phone and email
- Configuration of devices
- Test various internal applications and commercial apps
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly data maintenance tasks
- Backup procedures
- Assist in data management processes
Requirements
- BS degree (computer science or equivalent preferred)
- Experience with MS SQL Server 2000, including use of Query Analyzer, stored procedures, DTS, Jobs and Profiler
- Experience creating and maintaining an extraction, transformation, and loading process from source systems or files into a data warehouse
- Ability to extract data from a data warehouse and package according to user needs
- Familiarity with managing data in Microsoft Access and Excel
- Understanding of XML helpful
- Ability to plan, organize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong communication skills required
- A desire to exceed project, client and co-worker expectations
