The client is an established leading online marketing services company providing interactive direct marketing services to enhance customer loyalty, improve transaction rates and increase web site traffic.

The Position

The company has launched a unique internal startup business and is seeking an eCommerce Product Director and Merchandiser to provide leadership for a newly created role within a new team. The individual in this position will provide expertise, knowledge and direction for the new business team. The Product Director will be responsible for identifying and managing external product suppliers and principal interface with clients to identify business requirements and configure successful solutions to following areas: product development, merchandising, marketing, operations, fulfillment, and customer service.

The ideal candidate for this position is intelligent, flexible and an excellent communicator attracted to the challenges of building a brand new business! In addition, one must be a successful eCommerce product merchandiser with extensive experience sourcing, launching and merchandising products online to drive consumer acquisition and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external business stake holders (IT; Product Suppliers; Clients; Account Management; Marketing) to understand business requirements and options
  • Recommend optimal product strategy and merchandising test plan
  • Focus on increasing ecommerce components including conversion rate and average order value through merchandising, cart analysis, and cross-sell/up-sell strategies
  • Build a compelling product portfolio. Find and negotiate with range of vendors for robust product benefits at competitive pricing. Develop fulfillment strategy. Maintain vendor relationships.
  • Partner with Operations Manager to implement new product benefits. Be proactive in identifying project issues/risks and recommend solutions

Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelors degree, MBA preferred
  • 7+ years relevant experience managing/merchandising an ecommerce store-front with thorough understanding of ecommerce cart merchandising
  • Technical background viewed very favorably
  • Working knowledge of reporting systems such as Business Objects is a plus
  • Proven track record of driving new product development online through to successful sales
  • Ability to blend strategic thinking with tactical planning
  • Excellent analytical skills, creative thinker and problem solver
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle conflicting/changing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude in the face of challenging deliverables
  • Strong leadership and written/verbal communication skills
