The Position
The Senior Account Executive of New Business Development is responsible for prospecting and selling retail and consumer tracking services to senior level executives, primarily among athletic footwear, athletic apparel, and sports manufacturers. An individual in this position will be assigned to specific categories with an estimated annual individual sales goal of $700k - $850k.
Overall Responsibilities
- Identifying and contacting potential new customers (utilizing trade magazines, marketing campaigns, networking) with an emphasis on athletic footwear and athletic apparel or sports manufacturers
- Developing a qualified pipeline in order to achieve monthly sales goals
- Preparing presentations, applying knowledge of POS and Consumer data, and using data to address prospective client needs
- Taking an active role in footwear/athletic trade shows and networking events to build the company's awareness and image as a market leader
- Working in conjunction with the Sales Manager to create sales goals and timelines for each account, prepare detailed proposals, which speak directly to customer needs and negotiate agreements that are fair and equitable for both the client and the company
- Working with the corporate Marketing Team to develop messages and campaigns that increase awareness of the company to manufacturers within the sports and athletic industry
- Assist the Client Development Team, as needed, in identifying revenue opportunities and participating in team selling
- Developing approaches to expand and enhance product and service offerings within and across the lines of business to meet customer needs and fill gaps
- Ability to travel 30% of the time
Qualifications
- 5-8 years success in consistently achieving sales or revenue goals
- BA/BS degree or equivalent
- Prior experience selling to complex accounts using a consultative selling process
- Experience in a service-oriented business, athletic/sports industry, and/or market research industry a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team and with remote employees
- Proven ability to analyze customer needs and goals to assist in generating thoughtful, creative proposals that exceed customer expectations and expand revenue opportunities
- Ability to successfully manage many prospective clients and projects simultaneously
- Excellent negotiation skills including the art of persuasion and creativity
- Strong networking, prospecting, presentation, and consultative selling skills
- Ability to position company products in a way that produces distinctive competitive advantage
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with various client styles and work environments.
- Expert in all MS Office products, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
