Position
The Media Manager of Direct Mail will be primarily responsible for collaborating with the Senior Media Manager and Marketing Department to develop and build a mailing strategy for assigned products. Specifically, this person will oversee test list selection, segmentation, seasonality/timing testing, product rotation, list regeneration, and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Analyze test and campaign results across the portfolio and recommend strategies for future mailings
- Monitor list costs for assigned products and work with the media team to negotiate pricing needed by product for each list and segment
- Ensure that reciprocal deals are being honored and that they are beneficial company-wide
- Track the control offers, creative, premiums, media mix, and available universes for the top lists for assigned products; Provide a quarterly report to Media and Marketing outlining this information as well as any other critical changes in their acquisition plans and mailing strategies
- Manage the merge/purge process and back-end processing for assigned products. Work with the media team and the service bureau to develop strategies to maximize the available universe of mailable names
- Monitor the development, implementation and performance of models for external and internal lists
- Actively participate in budgeting and re-forecasting processes; Recommend optimal mail quantities, as well as mail date, and mailing strategies based on test results
- Liaise between external vendors and internal departments to examine and solve issues and opportunities that arise daily
- Troubleshoot, brainstorm, and address issues that may arise during the execution of direct mail campaigns
- Manage a team of external contacts including list brokers, list manager and merge-purge vendors
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, accounting, business administration or related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience in direct marketing industry; Mail planning experience preferred, but not essential
- Strong analytical skills and ability to manipulate data in Excel
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to anticipate and respond to change
- Team player with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
- Well-developed communication and negotiation skills
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft office software
