The client is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a major public corporation. They are one of the nation's top multi-channel marketers, with direct, retail, and publishing divisions to serve the brand and its customers.
The Position
Currently the company is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Vice President of Consumer Insights to become a key member of the Senior Management team. This position will be responsible for proactively leading the identification and development of consumer insights, market and competitive understanding. Specifically, the VP of Consumer Insights will translate information gained through the Analytics Services and Consumer Insights areas into implications and assist in the application of these insights into the company's strategic marketing plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Division Leadership to the following areas: Business Intelligence, Analytical Services, New Business and Consumer Insights
- Seek new solutions to business problems and identify new business opportunities.
- Direct the identification, development and execution of consumer, market, competitive research and statistical analysis to drive business decisions and tactical execution plans that achieve financial goals
- Collaborate with SVP Marketing, President and Senior Management team on matters relating to Consumer Insights and general company planning.
- Work closely and collaboratively with functional areas and business units
- Establish and maintain relationships with outside research suppliers and experts in industry
- Bring in new, cutting edge research techniques
- Ensure that subordinate areas work synergistically to improve collaboration and reduce rework
- Recruit, lead and develop a staff of creative professional who understand and support the company's mission and values, as well as the unique aesthetic of the brand
- Support HR Strategies by ensuring division is fully utilizing HR tools (such as TRAC/MATPICS, CAP, etc.) and ensuring importance of tools is understood by division
Qualifications
- 10 years experience with a Bachelor's Degree (BA, BS) or equivalent in Marketing, Market/Advertising Research Analytics or a related discipline. MBA preferred.
- Experience working in the Consumer Products industry including, Consumer Research and Analytical Services or significant experience consulting with a major firm.
- Direct Marketing Analytics experience at a multi-channel company
- Familiarity with multiple channels of distribution, with special emphasis on direct mail and branded retail.
- Significant P&L experience for a company, including identifying growth opportunities and building the business
- Experience successfully moving new product from concept to commercialization
- Ability to build strong business relationships and work collaboratively with marketing peers
- Superior written and communication skills
- Organized, efficient and able to manage creative processes, as well as grasp operational details and financial strategies
