The client is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a major public corporation. They are one of the nation's top multi-channel marketers, with direct, retail, and publishing divisions to serve the brand and its customers.
The Position
The Senior Director of Direct Marketing will be responsible for the marketing efforts associated with the direct channels including Catalogue Marketing, Web Marketing and Magazine Marketing. This position will align the direct channel strategies so they are consistent with the company's strategic marketing plans and meet overall growth, sales, and profitability objectives by collaborating with Direct Marketing leaders on business planning and streamlining of processes to create efficiencies and synergies between the groups.
Responsibilities
This position will work cross-functionally to maintain relationships with other areas of the business while functioning at both the Senior Marketing Management level as well as the functional Marketing level. This requires the Senior Director to be able to work with employees at all levels of the organization to ensure consistency of Marketing and Business practice.
- Drive direct channel marketing strategy and ensure continuity of planning across three direct channels: Catalogue, Web and Magazine.
- Direct and coordinate business planning in each area of responsibility to assure the means for establishing short and long range objectives consistent with company goals.
- Ensure that each channel is meeting predetermined goals and functioning efficiently.
- Develop an annual Direct Marketing Plan that provides strategic direction.
- Provide a year-end review detailing the outcomes of the marketing plan.
- Partner with other Marketing leaders to translate strategy into the Integrated Marketing Plan and ensure synergies across all marketing channels.
- Recruit, lead and develop a staff who understand and support the company's mission and values, as well as the unique aesthetic of the brand.
- Oversee the development of budgets for subordinate sections and ensure that predetermined budgets are maintained.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent with emphasis in marketing, finance, mathematics, economics, business or other quantitative, analytical field.
- Experience working in the Consumer Products industry to include management of direct marketing circulation, forecasting, and web marketing.
- Experience working in a multi-channel consumer products company with a demonstrated record of superior business and personal performance.
- Familiarity with multiple channels of distribution, with special emphasis on direct mail and branded retail.
- Thorough knowledge of web technology and building/marketing online experiences.
- Superior forecasting techniques.
- Creative analytic skills – ability to identify strategic issues and to hypothesize and quantify relationships.
- Excellent communication, leadership and team building skills.
